Paperwork & Process

In my design process, I start with words, before imagery. Examples of that are below in the UTNT24 Lighting Cue Sheet, and the UTNT23 Show-day Checklist. Image research can be seen below in the Fall for Dance Design Presentation and the Projection Design Presentations. Ideally, time allows me to create detailed plans with words or storyboards, and perhaps some advanced pre-visualization and basic cues. Once I move into developing the plots and other paperwork, I am more visual. Part of my process when possible includes checking angles and photo-metrics in Vectorworks (3D, if applicable). Of course, ideal conditions are not always possible, so I adapt to the best of my ability to get the job done!
